The integration between CBDCs and the crypto market was discussed in a webinar promoted by the Central Bank of Brazil. The event, which was broadcasted on Youtube on Tuesday (30), was expected to address topics such as DeFi, NFTs, and metaverse.

Brazil is studying how the digital currency launch controlled by the Central Bank can impact the economy. Also known as CBDC, the digital real was addressed in the webinar “Technologies for issuance and compatibility with existing arrangements”.

The webinar was webcast between 11am and 12:30pm, and in addition to representatives from the Central Bank, the event featured the following experts:

Matthieu Saint Olive (Product Manager at ConsenSys), Ricardo Correia (Global Head of Digital Currencies at R3), Seidemann Wolfram (CEO at G+D Currency Technology) and Aristides Andrade Cavalcante Neto (moderator and deputy head of the Information Technology Department of the Central Bank).

This is not the first debate promoted by the Central Bank about the creation of the digital real. For example, the institution launched in July 2021 a series of seven online lectures on the subject.

The closing of the cycle of lectures on the digital real was given by the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto. The event was broadcast free of charge over the internet, and those interested can check the event through this link.
