A complete mobile banking platform that will allow users to keep and spend euros, dollars, XRP and other currencies, without any help from a financial institution. This is the proposal of Xign, an app that is being developed by XRPL Labs. The news about the new app was featured on the site The Daily Hodl.
According to the company’s founder, Wietse Wind, the Xign will not be directed only for cryptocurrencies transactions, but rather for offering all banking services that are usually used online. “Thus, the user can use it to check his balance, and even to send funds in any currency. This is possible because the ledger of the XRP can handle any currency issued in the book. We’re not building an encryption wallet. We’re building a banking application”, he stated.
According to Wind, the platform is being built with the goal of simplifying the payments, whether if they are in crypto or traditional coins. To this end, the company is creating a configuration guide to help users start using the system. Therefore, the highlight is that the mechanism will be safe and easy to use.
Among the facilities of the platform, it will not require users to enter long encryption addresses to send funds. Instead, the application will use an account directory with resources. In addition, it will also give users the ability to review and approve or deny payments to people and businesses.
Wind have also reinforced that the mainstream will not be directed only to “geeks”, or to a restricted portion of people who use cryptocurrencies. “All of a sudden, in 2017, about 10% of the population had acquired a cryptocurrency wallet. This is still a low percentage of the population, and most of them were geeks. It’s the kind of thing that mother could use. And maybe she will want to use it”, quipped Wind.
