There is a race of technology giants to chart the future of mining, with the search for more cost-efficient solutions. Recently, Google’s development of a quantum computer has moved the segment about a possible, shortly denied, threat to bitcoin security. Now, Microsoft has filed a patent that provides for the use of the activity of a human body in cryptocurrency mining.

The solution registered by the technology giant provides for the use of brainwaves and human body temperature to mine cryptocurrencies. According to Coinidol, the system allows mining through data collected from humans when they see ads or when they exercise.

The giant disclosed that the sensors can identify and diagnose any activity connected to a specific part of the work. For example, the time it takes to read ads. And modify it into digital information readable by a device. In the same way as a conventional proof-of-work (PoW) system works. Some tasks would decrease or elevate computational power appropriately, based on the amount of information produced from the user activity.

There is still no prediction of when Microsoft will develop the system and even if it will put it on its blockchain.

Future of mining also goes through quantum computing

Google’s recent announcement of a quantum processor called Sycamore also showed promising for mining activity. Although quantum computing can increase the efficiency of mining, its cost is still very high. Therefore, it is still going to take a while before this technology can be used.

Mining aims to maintain the integrity and security of movements in the bitcoin network. It is through it that transactions are validated and recorded on the blockchain (public and decentralized ledger).
