São Paulo Futebol Clube is a pioneer in the adoption of crypto assets. Besides closing a sponsorship with the Bitso platform and launching its fan token, the club will now accept payments in digital currencies for tickets.

The new crypto asset payment method will be available for soccer games in which São Paulo is the home team. As such, the rule applies to games at the Morumbi stadium in São Paulo and matches at other stadiums.

With the novelty, São Paulo is the first club in Brazil to accept digital currencies as payment for tickets. Therefore, the integration of crypto assets is made through a partnership between the team and Bitso.

São Paulo accepts crypto assets

Fans of the São Paulo team can now use crypto assets to buy tickets for the soccer team. Thus, the system is already available for club members, and the first ticket has already been sold.

Initially, the new payment method will only be available to São Paulo’s club team members. According to the team, twelve digital currencies will be accepted, such as:

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
  • Ether (ETH)
  • Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Dogecoin (DOGE)
  • Shiba Inu (SHIB)
  • Gemini dollar (GUSD)
  • USD Coin (USDC)
  • Pax Dollar (USDP)
  • Dai (DAI)
  • Binance USD (BUSD)

São Paulo’s crypto assets ticket sales are available through Total Acesso. On the platform the fan selects the digital currency and the match they want to watch.

Presumably, the service will be released to other fans of the club. So far, the first user who used the platform paid for the ticket with bitcoin. To celebrate the payment method, São Paulo and Bitso offered a non-fungible token (NFT) to the user who bought the first team’s ticket with crypto assets.
