Contrary to what many imagine, women are also attentive to the cryptocurrency market. And some names already stand out as personalities who are making history in this sector, according to an article published by Glamour.
This generation of entrepreneurs women, which had watched men own the technological space, act to maintain the level of competition. Thus, the idea is that reducing gender difference will result in a more inclusive technology.
“The men I have observed vying for influence do not have extensive knowledge in technology. However, women in technology tend to overcome their goals, study more and expand their knowledge legitimately, just so they can enter this environment”, says Tavonia Evans, who worked in the technology industry for almost 20 years before launching her own cryptocurrency, called $ Guap.
Meet women who stood out in the cryptocurrency market
Kathleen Breitman
Co-founder and CEO of Tezos, Kathleen Breitman, led a US$ 230 million project, which at the time was a record number. It was a public sale in July 2018, in which she developed most of the company’s protocol. After a series of obstacles, the project is now about to take off towards success.
Connie Gallippi
She came up with her idea while washing her hands in a bathroom at a cryptocurrency seminar. Connie Gallippi thought the Bitcoin community needed a philanthropic organization and decided that she would command this foundation, named BitGive.
From there she created the platform, GiveTrack, available on the BitGive website, that uses Bitcoin technology to hold charities accountable for the donations they receive. As the Bitcoin publicly records all transactions already made on the system, GiveTrack can use this record to show people who make donations exactly where their money is spent. GiveTrack was released in October and is still being tested.
Elizabeth Rossiello
If there is a woman who reflects the international reach and relevance of the cryptocurrency revolution, this is Elizabeth Rossiello. Originally from Queens, New York, Rossiello lives around the world and currently runs one of the best-known companies in the cryptocurrency environment. This is BitPesa, launched by Elizabeth in 2013, at the age of 31. The company uses bitcoin blockchain to make payment between African currencies and the rest of the world easier and faster.

Black consumers and high school students
Tavonia Evans
When Tavonia Evans came up with the idea of the new cryptocurrency called $ GUAP, she first told her children about it. And that makes sense, because these are the people she hopes to see using her currencies. The $ GUAP is specifically designed to meet black consumers and reward spending behaviors that keep money circulating in an ecosystem of companies owned by black people.
Tess Rinearson
Tess Rinearson realized that the universes of finance and technology were dominated by men, which could lead some women to give up joining the sector. Therefore, at the age of 24, she took on the mission of involving more women in these sectors, starting with high school students.
In this way, she collaborated with the Girls Who Code to teach them about Bitcoin, involving women in the cryptocurrency market. Afterwards, she taught a program at MIT Media Lab that introduced university students from under-represented backgrounds into blockchain technology. Thus, Rinearson has also been working to make all encryptions more accessible. She maintains a blog on Medium and even created an explanatory guide of the Bitcoin, full of emojis.
